Protests, Questions Loom In Ohio As Electoral College Prepares To Vote

COLUMBUS, Ohio — On Monday, presidential electors were scheduled to meet in their respective capitals to cast electoral votes for president. How this process plays out in Ohio was up in the air at presstime, as a recount of the 2004 ballots is getting under way.
According to Ray Beckerman, an attorney leading the challenge to have every vote counted prior to the electoral college votes being cast in Ohio, “a number of them, especially those from Ohio and Florida, are there as a result not of a free and fair election, but as a result of fraud.”
He says that if they are permitted to select the next President of the United States, “our democracy is at an end.”
